J.J. was the registered trademark of the Jonette Jewelry Company. When first founded by Abraham Lisker in 1935, it was named Providence Jewelry Company. When his brother Nathan joined the company, the name was changed to Lisker and Lisker, Inc. Because of WWII, production ceased, then restarted after the war. At this time, the company was renamed Jonette Jewelry. After 69 years of production, the company announced that it would be closing in September, 2008 due to foreign competition and market conditions. Jonette Jewelry is marked “J.J.”
